“Idea to Prototype” Bootcamp
The Idea to Prototype Bootcamp is a hands-on workshop series that helps undergraduates move from an initial question to a functional prototype and a tangible deliverable—such as a demo, poster, or technical report. The series emphasizes rapid iteration, experimental thinking, and practical system integration using microcontrollers, sensors, and real-time data workflows. Students build confidence by working with the same tools used in modern engineering labs and prototype-driven startups.
Workshops progress from foundational embedded development (Arduino and ESP32), to circuits and sensing, to multi-component system design and visualization, and finally to using AI tools to accelerate debugging and refinement—positioning AI as an engineering support tool, not a substitute for fundamentals. A culminating team-based session (pending) focuses on solution design, feasibility analysis, and learning from guest speakers in research and industry.
