MISSION

IEEE@UNC–CH is the official student branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers at UNC-Chapel Hill. Our Mission is to help students gain an engineering mindset, as well as skills and project backgrounds that will be applicable to every field.

  • The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world’s largest technical organization dedicated to advancing technology, with 400,000+ members across 160+ countries. Our UNC branch brings that global network right to campus. And we made it even stronger as we’re proudly affiliated with the Applied Physical Sciences Department.

  • IEEE@UNC-CH connects learning and doing. We explore both software and hardware through IEEE-backed competitions and projects. We host build nights, fund prototypes, invite industry speakers, and help students turn ideas into demos, research, and even startups. Build and lead rapid-prototype teams. Get hands-on training in soldering, PCB design, and microcontrollers. Attend exclusive workshops and lightning talks with industry insiders, researchers, and alumni. Apply for project funding or travel support for competitions. Collaborate across disciplines with peers who love to build.
